PORT MONTH
Tasting room

It’s February and that means it is time to celebrate Port-styled wines. From tastings of older vintages (back to 2000), to our annual blue cheese versus chocolate competition, to the newly released 2011 New-World Port, to the quintessential Port experience – Portopia, it’s an educational extravaganza steeped in Port.

Dates to note:
February 10th and 11th - 2000 and 2001 New-World Port and English walnut pairing. Purchase the port duo for $68.00 (regularly $94.00).

February 14th – Valentine’s Day - 2001 New-World Port and Belgian dark chocolate Himalayan salted chip pairing

February 16th thru February 19th – Annual blue cheese versus chocolate competition with the 2011 New-World Port.  Dedrick’s Cheese will be in the tasting room all four days spearheading the competition.  Come taste and make your vote count.

February 24th – Portopia…the pinnacle of Port month.

PORTOPIA
Saturday, February 24th
Sign up for one of three sessions: 12 noon, 1:00 pm, or 2:00 pm

Do you love Port? Collect Port? Or just want to learn about our New-World Port? Portopia is a walk-around educational experience in the Madroña cellar. We focus on daring culinary creations made or paired with our current and library New-World Port vintages. Learn that Port is not just a dessert wine and that it can be enjoyed at all times of the meal. Taste a Port still wine (red table wines made from Port grapes), library selections and the Tawny Port from the barrel.

Because this is a food and wine pairing event, we have found that the order of pairings is very important. Therefore, to alleviate lines, and to allow people to enjoy the progression of tastings, we have set-up three different arrival times. Each time allows enough time to leisurely enjoy the event and relax in the cellar "living room.”

Tickets are available for the following times.

Saturday (2/24) 12:00 noon - limit 30 people
Saturday (2/24) 1:00 pm - limit 30 people
Saturday (2/24) 2:00 pm - limit 30 people

If you love our Port then this is the event for you!  Act quickly as this event has sold out the last three years.  If you purchased 2016 port futures, and would like to make your reservation on-line, please make a note on the order, and we will apply the discount before we charge you.  Alternatively, you may call the winery at 530-644-5948 and make your reservation.  We look forward to seeing you.

$25/person plus tax
$20/person plus tax if you purchased 2016 Port futures

TASTE OF BORDEAUX RIVER CRUISE WITH MADROÑA VINEYARDS
November 15 to November 22, 2018

Qu’est-ce que vous en pensez? If you’ve ever been in the tasting room and Paul’s there trying to speak some French, you know we Madroña folk love France (and the wines). Come join us for a voyage on the AmaDolce (the riverboat) this coming November for an experience of fine food, fantastic wine, and the French countryside. Each day has excursions into villages and wineries with smaller, intimate groups as we travel up the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers. Bordeaux, Pauillac, Blaye, Bourg, Cadillac, (and more) are all on the itinerary. And then if you can’t get enough of Paul out in the French vineyards, he’ll be doing three seminars onboard the ship talking (and tasting) about Bordeaux and Madroña wines. Remember, learning is doing, and we all need to learn more!

*Speaking French is not a pre-requisite for coming on this trip, but taste buds and an open mind are! If you’re interested, you’d better sign up soon as we’ve already filled many of the cabins (it’s a smaller ship).
